Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce Announces Endorsements for City Council Election

Consistency and Stability Needed During This Unstable Economic Time for Our City

September 25, 2020, Santa Monica, Calif. — Today, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce announced its endorsement for City Council. The Chamber endorsed the following candidates:

Mayor Pro Tem Terry O’Day, Councilmember Gleam Davis, Councilmember Ana Maria Jara, Councilmember Kristin McCowan, and Councilmember Ted Winterer.

“Our city has never in our lifetimes faced such unpredictability and economic strife. Local businesses are the lifeblood of our city and their vitality supplies jobs and tax revenue the city needs and is the reason we all love living in Santa Monica,” said Becky Warren, chair of the Chamber Board of Directors. “We are endorsing the current city councilmembers because they have shown the willingness to discuss ways to help Santa Monica businesses and we need representatives who will also support policies that will help our businesses and local economy in the future.”

Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce is a broad and diverse mix of large and small employers and non-profits dedicated to health and vitality of the City of Santa Monica. The Chamber is dedicated to advocating for policies that will help businesses thrive here in the city.

“We know the City Council has faced difficult decisions and will continue to face difficult ones in the future,” said Laurel Rosen, President of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce. “We believe that these are the best candidates to lead the city and provide stability that is needed now more than ever.”
