The SM Sustainability Business Council promotes an environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable community.  The monthly meetings are an opportunity to hear from experts about current initiatives and receive updates on the City’s actions towards the Sustainability Plan.  Bi-monthly, members can attend a free “behind the scenes” tour of businesses with exemplary green practices.  Tours have included the Metro Facility, and the Pen Factory. The next Tours are on August 1st (Behind the Scenes with The Albright), September 5th (Behind the Scene Tour of Unitarian Universalist Church) and on October 3rd (Behind the Scenes with Perry’s Beach Café an beach Rentals). Meet other professionals interested in our community and it’s environment.

The SM Sustainability Business Council coordinates the Sustainable Quality Awards Program.  In collaboration with the City of Santa Monica and Sustainable Works, this program recognizes businesses for their efforts in Sustainable Economic Development, Social Responsibility, and Stewardship of the Natural Environment.  Specific excellence awards are given to businesses with outstanding achievements in any one of the three areas.
